I had a tummy tuck at age 60. I had a very bad scar from a previous surgery when I was 15. The doctor said the old scar was difficult to remove but it looked amazing when he finished. I’m now 66 & my stomach is still flat although I do gain a few pounds here & there & it shows but I have great muscle control & I go to the gym regularly. My recovery experience wasn’t too bad. I had no major problems but didn’t feel like a real human being until after the 9th day. I was alone so I had to sleep sitting up & I was miserable. I couldn’t lay down because my muscles were too weak for me to pull myself up. I’m so thankful I had the surgery & I had an excellent dr. in Pasadena, CA. My body looks like a young person’s and I couldn’t be happier. 2nd thought. I am still pretty numb in the stomach area & I often itch under the skin & I’m not sure what this is from. My surgery was 5 yrs ago. Do you know what is causing this?

Rose,

After 5 years and your stomach area is still numb? Sorry, I have no idea why that is or why you itch under the skin.

I’m glad that everything went well with your tummy tuck.

I know what you mean. Being alone while you have your tummy tuck does make the recovery process more difficult. My dog was great for the emotional support but he wasn’t much help around the house or as a personal assistant.

Sleeping in the sitting position would have been a bummer. Fortunately I was able to sleep in bed on my back. When I wanted to get up I was able to roll on my side, swing my legs over the edge of the bed and get to the upright position using my hand and arms. I positioned furniture against the bed to give me leverage support.

I hope your numbness goes away.

Best regard,

Tanner
