The following post from our tummy tuck forum is from a woman who had liposuction one month ago and now has what she suspects are blood clots in different parts of her body. She is wondering when they will go away and what are the side effects.

Marianne,
I could see how you would suspect that the clogged drain was an indication of the first stages of Deep Vein Thrombosis. After reading your comment I did a little research on Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). From what I understand, a tummy tuck operation poses the highest risk for developing DVT than any other cosmetic surgery operation and that it is difficult to recognize in the early stages of development.
You say you went to hell and back with your DVT. Could you please explain what happened and what you went through with the DVT? Most people (including me) don’t recognize or understand the seriousness and consequences of developing DVT after a tummy tuck.
I hope you are fully recovered from your ordeal and are happy with the results of your tummy tuck.
Best regards,
Tanner
DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS (BLOOD CLOT) UPDATE:

Lailat,
I am not a doctor and can’t give you medical advice so I cannot give you specific answers to your questions.
I have just been corresponding with a woman who had a tummy tuck and developed a Deep Vein Thrombosis (Blood Clot) in her leg. She went through (and is still going through) quite an ordeal with her blood clot. You can read what happened to her here. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) From A Tummy Tuck
I don’t want to scare you, but blood clots are a serious matter which can lead to bad things happening to your body. If you do have thrombosis or blood clots I would recommend that you go back to your surgeon immediately.
Are you sure that you have blood clots and not just a seroma or pooling of the blood? From what you described it sounds like that would be more likely or else I would have thought that your doctor would have taken more action. You can find more information about blood clots, seromas, compression garments and surgical drains at the following links.

I would be curious to know if you do actually have blood clots or fluid buildup and how you end up getting rid of them. Also, did you have your liposuction performed in India?
Good luck.
Tanner
