Heel Home Care:
1. Wear pads / arch supports and recommended shoe gear at all times.
2. Take the medications as prescribed. If you begin to experience any side effects, with the medication, i.e., (1) nausea / vomiting (2) dizziness (3) headache (4) fluid retention or (5) an elevation in blood pressure, please stop taking the medication immediately and notify the office. While these are rare side-effects they may occur.
3. Limit activity until you are advised otherwise. If you are a sports medicine patient, please stay with the exercise program you were advised to follow. 00como Barefoot Or anything equal to going barefoot such as house slippers, stocking feet, flip flops, sandals, dress flats, loafer style shoes, and J or boat shoes. In most cases, heel pain has a mechanical origin and you must constantly provide continued mechanical support which is the primary method of treating this condition.
6. Stretching exercises ~Two times a day. Achilles Stretch - Hands against wall or counter. Stretch with leg straight and knee bent (10 second hold with each one) Repeat 10 to 15 times each leg.
B) Stretch ~ Place a rolled towel under ball of foot, hold with resistance and stretch foot back toward you, hold for 8 to 10 seconds, then stretch foot away from you 8 to 10 seconds. Relax. Alternate to other foot 10 to 15 times each foot. . [ C~,\KGI:tiB!sRiIl or frozen water bottle Exercise - Place frozen water bottle under arch of you foot while in a sitting position.
~ Roll back and forth from the ball of your foot to the fat pad of the heel. 5 to 10 minutes each foot, 2 to ;) times daily.
7. NI T SPLINT: If you are just beginning treatment of Plantar fasciitis and / or Achilles tendinitis you may not have received a night
splint this time. Therefore, pl~regard number 7 for the moment If after 4 to 6 weeks you have failed to improve wi~
regards to proms. a ni.,.ga~lint may be considered a part of your treatment program at home. For the frrst2 weeks the night
splint may be .ortable. If you wake in the middle of the night uncomfortable, remove the night splint and get some rest.
The followin ght p e use the night splint again. It may take a period of 2,to 5 weeks to become use to wearing the llight .splint
through evening. In er to appropriately treat plantar fasciitis and J or Achilles tendinitis, it may require the use of a night
