I am 7 weeks
post op, wake up flat, swollen at night, still have
pain in muscle area, very swollen in bottom. I wear
compression garments and I see an indentation where
my pants buckle yet don't buckle my pants. AWWW, so
frustrated!!! Is this normal?

I'm 11 weeks out from my full tummy tuck. My concern
is if even after 11 weeks it's normal to feel some
pain in my stomach muscle. It will feel like a spasm
where I have to apply a little pressure with my
hands or girdle. Is this normal and when will I be
able to go a day not even thinking about the
discomfort.

Good evening. Can i get informed please about how to
get rid of the marks (excess of skin) around my
belly button that i got after 2 cesariennes. I am
very sporty since my childhood, so i practically
workout regularly or a bit less. However i still have
an excess of skin under my belly button and the scar
is somehow chelodide. I thought about a tummy tuck
but my vicinity doesn't encourage me to do so. Still
i am bothered with the marks around my belly button
and the flubby small stomach remaining after my
second delivery. Thanks in advance for highlighting
me regarding the step to make to feel much better,
fit and happy.

epigasstric hernia and need to have it surgically
repaired. I have been suggested to have a tummy tuck
done at the same time but I am terrified at the
prospect of two things: the 3 hour operation and the
accompanying anesthesia and the pain post the

Hi Tanner, I
had a tummy tuck at the end of October and it was a pretty
good experience (as far as discomfort, etc.). Like
you, I didn't really have much pain outside of the
sore abs - felt like I'd done about 1000 too many
sit-ups). I didn't really need any pain meds outside
of Aspirin and stopped taking that after the 3rd or
4th day. I didn't like the dizziness that the
percocet gave me, so I opted out of using it. Its
been about 4 weeks and my PS just gave me some
silicone gel for the scar. She told me that the
consensus from the medical field is silicone gel and
tape over the scar (with tape creating heat on the
scar which will aid in healing and scar reduction)
are the only proven methods. I was wondering what
kinds of treatments for scar reduction you've heard
were successful or have you used. And how long have
you heard its necessary to treat a scar with those
methods to help reduce it? Thanks. Tummy

Open & Infected Wound 3 Years After Tummy Tuck? |

I have tummy tuck done in 2008 , 6 month later I
have problem incision around my belly see to
increased redness and experience increased pain
around the wound harness tissue around the belly an
opening in the wound. Discharge of pus thick
yellowish/ greenish liquid from the incision on my
belly. I feeling tired and feel lack of energy,
double vision, loss of appetite, headache, fever
doesn't feel better. I keep going to emergency and
doctor only give me a antibiotics (cellulitis,
cephalexin) opening in the wound doesn't healing at
all. Please help I'm tired to see leaking belly.

I am not sure I understand. You had your tummy tuck
over 3 years ago and you still have an open wound
that is infected? Sorry, but the only thing I could
suggest to you would be to seek medical attention
from different doctors (specialists, not emergency

I am going for
a hernia repair as well as a tummy tuck. I also had 2
more operations within this year, I was told that
the hernia repair n tummy tuck would be dangerous. I
was also a smoker and my doctor advised me to stop
so I'm on tablets that has stopped me from
smoking, but I am still afraid coz I'm not sure if
I'll survive this operation because I have been smoking
and my lungs are not as strong has it is supposed to
be, I have 2 boys n a husband that I so dearly love I

Nov. 7, 2011. I also had liposuction around the breast, and
he said he tightened a lot of muscles. The long
tummy tuck scar doesn't hardly hurt at all and he
applied a long piece of breathable looking tape and
said do nothing to it.. The upper body
liposuction
areas really are still sore and while I sleep ok
getting use to my back, I am very sore in the AM and
it takes about an hour for it to go down to a dull

67 Year Old woman Has Pain And Swelling 2 Months After Tummy Tuck |

It's been 2
months since my tummy tuck. I am just now able to
sleep without my binder on. I can't go during the
day without it as I end up having pain and a lot of
swelling. Is this usual... I'm 67 and thought maybe
because I'm older it is taking longer to heal. I
wasn't real large to begin with and just had the
loose skin removed and my abs repaired. The skin
just feels so tight from the swelling. I tried an

of hardness in the lower abdomen (mines below the
belly button)? It's about the size of a baseball. Do
you think this is something that's normal to

tuck about 6 months ago. I am worried because I am
so swollen and look 4 months pregnant. I am swollen
from under my chest and down it foofs out. I am also
having a stabbing pain on my lower stomach near the
scar. The more I work out and walk it hurts. Is this

my doctor says I'm fine. He isn't the nicest to me

was in my head that he's never had a patient in that

diet n exercise, a couple of years ago my mother
followed in my foot steps and did about the same,
now we are both looking to get tummy tucks this

Dead Black Skin After Tummy Tuck |

I had a liposuction and tummy tuck the same day. When I
went back to the PS for my first visit, I thought I
had a large bruise. Instead it was black and my
doctor
said it was dead skin cells. Now I need another
surgery to get rid of this problem. I have heard of
skin graphs to cover the hole they put in your tummy
to cover what was cut out. Can you give me some idea
of what they are going to do? I am 53 and weigh 135.

Hello. I am currently 3 weeks post-op from having
full tummy tuck. The main incision is healing nicely
but due to a prior laparoscopic procedure, my
circulation was compromised around belly button.
Because of this the tissue of new belly button is
ischemic and producing puss and pain. My PS put me
on IV antibiotics and had me use silver mesh for a
week. This was two weeks ago. There is no sign of
healing and I'm afraid it will infect again. I'm
usually a quick healer. How often do these open
wounds re-infect? What more can I do to avoid
re-infection other than washing it and changing
dressings daily? My PS agrees it's unusual for tissue
to take this long to "declare itself". Any advice is
welcomed.

days post surgery. Feeling better every day and
swelling and bruising starting to subside. Saw the
surgeon again today and the single tummy drain is
still in...35cc per day last two days. Have another
appointment for Tuesday - maybe? He drained my chest
reduction area again - 65 cc left and 80 cc right.
Less than half of Tuesday's amount. Even the surgeon
is surprised by my fluid amounts, but says that it
sometimes happens - lucky me. Otherwise, he is
extremely pleased with my healing progress. I am
convinced that you and I had a similar pre-surgery
experience...my gym time of 90 minutes daily
certainly made me handle the recovery better.
Stopped at the gym this morning for the first time
to see the gang and had absolutely NO desire to lift
weights or get on the Stairmaster! I can wait a few
more weeks! Told my surgeon all about your site and
he was going to check it out so he can refer
patients to it. Keep up the good work and help more
people....you made a huge difference for me. Thanks.

Hi Tanner, thanks for replying. I seen my surgeon
and unfortunately I lost my bellybutton. I also got
it infected and was put on antibiotics. I did not
see my original surgeon since I got it done in
Tijuana and had no one to take me, a local surgeon
took my stitches out and it seems that it was too
early, causing it to get lost. Now I need to wait
till the infection goes away and heal in order for
them to fix it. Word of advice-stitches can stay
unto a month- sadly I learned too late. Tummy

tummy tuck a year ago, now I'm scheduled for a full
tummy tuck, I want abdomen tightened in the upper
area. I had no problems at all with the last

Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since my full tummy tuck. My

Hi Tanner - 2 weeks post surgery and still have one
drain, about 50cc daily. Seeing surgeon for
follow-up tomorrow. By far the most surprising part
of the ordeal so far has been the post surgery
bruising, swelling and fluid retention. Even the
surgeon has been surprised at my reaction. Lucky me.
Am hoping he manually drains me tomorrow. Otherwise
not feeling too bad. Worked 1/2 day today and am

Hi! I just located this very informative site after
goggling about my drain leaking at point of
insertion. For about a day, a considerable amount of
fluid has been "escaping: through the drain
insertion hole. After reading all of your
wonderfully helpful information, I decided to
squeeze my drain tubing. Lo and behold, big clots
and 45 cc's of fluid in bulb! I am 11 days post-op
and so glad I made this decision. Thank you for
providing me with some much needed assistance. It
seems that doctors offices all too often "presume"
that we know what to expect before, during and after
recovery. With no previous experience of this sort,
how can one always know what questions to ask?

questions in regards to existing surgical scars. I
am a 49 year old female who has three daughters,
including a set of twins. I have gone for one
consultation so far and am not sure if I was very
happy with the doctor. As I have an old horizontal
gall bladder scar next to my belly button, I was
told by the surgeon, that he would not be able to do
a full tummy tuck as when the skin would be pulled
down, it would restrict the flow to this scar and

Hello. I had a
full tummy tuck August 18th, about 7 to 8 weeks ago.
My Doctor pulled my drainage tube on day 6, & I was
still draining over 100 cc's of blood, even with
clots during this time. I asked him to leave the
drainage tube in because I've read that you should
wait until the fluid is yellowish, or clear, and is
under 20 cc's. But, it was Labor Day weekend, and he
was going out of town. So, he asked his nurse, IN
FRONT OF ME, if she would be in town. She said no.
So my Doctor pulled it. He said if he left it in
longer than 6 days I could get an infection..
I ended up in the ER that Sat. They did a CT & told
me that I NOW have a hernia, plus a serona that
measured 20 cm by 14. The er doc told me it was the
size of my entire stomach.. I was wondering if I
could have something seriously wrong with me. Could
I die from this? Do I have an infection?

wonderful! I have peace of mind now. My surgeon
isn't very nice, she made me cry in her office! I
was very emotional a week after surgery and she told
me to be a woman about it. Anyway, I am 6 weeks post
op and still producing about 150cc. Do you happen to
know if it's safe to wear the drain still while
taking antibiotics? Thank you so much, this

anesthesiologist need to know all of the medications
that you are taking. It is extremely important to

Man Trying To Decide Whether Or Not To Have A Tummy Tuck Operation |

Hi and thanks for posting about your experience.
Like many comments on here, there's not much
web-space for men getting this surgery.. I am just
not sure whether to go through with it. In some
ways, I feel like getting rid of the skin will
literally and emotionally release some of this. But
then I also battle with the whole "I should accept
myself and my body for what it is" and spend that
money somewhere else. Plus, I try not to be a person
that cares only about the physical, yet this seems
to make me feel like I would. I have pretty mixed
reactions when I ask family and friends. I've had
some that support me but say that they love me how I
am (even past girlfriends) while others say to do it
if it will make me happier overall. I'm really torn
about what to do and what my true motivation is..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank
you for providing all the details about your
surgery.

I had my tummy tuck on Sept 2, 2011 and each of my tow
drains continues to put out over 25 cc of fluid in a
24 hour period. I'm very concerned of the amount of
fluid still draining and if it's out of the
ordinary. Am I doing something that can increase
fluid production? I have been somewhat disappointed
over my recovery because of the length the drains
have been in. I also wanted to thank you for all the

because I have a problem. There is some liquid or
maybe puss coming out from one of the areas & I am
under medicines but if I wear the compression

had my tummy tuck 3 days ago. Apparently all went
well. I'm in absolutely no pain from the surgery.
There are three things bothering me, though. First
is a numbness at the left tight..
Also since the beginning of day 2 my groin was
swelling a big deal but today it's pretty worse. My
scrotum is almost black.. Finally, the first day I came home I went to the
bathroom but couldn't urinate... Have any of
you experienced something like this before?

I had a tummy tuck with one drain placed just above
my pubic area May 24, 2011. Seven days post surgery
I was admitted to the hospital with 4 PE's and 2
DVT's. The JP drain remained in place while I was
hospitalized for 8 days (total time drain in place
15 days). Despite removal the drain/incision site
continues to drain the pale golden fluid and it has
been over three months since surgery. Although
certainly odd my surgeon has indicated that it isn't
anything to worry about after exploring the
abdominal area with a needle. Why is this still
draining and should anything be done?

the information you gave me about having surgery and to tell you I got
my abdomoplasty surgery 6 days ago and it went really well....I felt
nervous going into it but after I woke up I felt pretty clear headed and
of course, sore. I still feel the soreness and tightness in my stomach
but of course I will for another 4-6 weeks. And I took my first shower

different. I have my first post-op appt. in a couple days and just
wanted to let you know how it went! and one question too did yours look
a bit swollen in the begging and how long did it take yours to swell
down? Thank you so much for all the info you gave me!

Pain 2 weeks after tummy tuck. Sharon,
Sorry for the delay in responding to you. My computer's hard drive went
belly up and it took me a little while to recover from it. Some pain
after a tummy tuck is expected, but you don't say anything about the
intensity or location of your pain. Since it has only been two weeks
after your tummy tuck I would think that your are going to scheduled
follow-up visits with your surgeon. I am sure he/she will address your

I am 9 weeks post tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery. I'm looking
and feeling much better but still have a lot of swelling and major
internal muscle pain in the middle of my stomach. Is this normal? The
muscles also become very fatigued after a normal day of activity. Please
tell me if this is normal, how much longer it will last and has anyone
else had the same issues.

I had a domplasty when they only cut my skin off, and some fat. Why is
it always filling up with fluid, and every 2 days my doctor drains a lot
of fluid out, why is it doing that. Where is this fluid coming from?
