HERNIA (ENTEROCELE )

A hernia is a protrusion (a part of an internal organ that bulges) through a weak section of muscle tissue or membrane. Most hernias develop in the abdomen and are common in men, women and children.

A combination of muscle weakness and straining, such as with heavy lifting, coughing, pregnancy and staining at bowel movements can cause a hernia to develop. The usual treatment for a hernia is surgery to repair the opening in the muscle wall. Untreated hernias can cause pain and health problems.
