I'm having a tummy tuck on the 29th of this month.
Is it normal to get worried and scared about the
surgery? And for healthy people, is there a chance
people might die during surgery? Thanks.

Iman,
I would guess everyone gets worried and scared
before their tummy tuck surgery.
Anytime you have anesthesia and surgery there are
always risks, even for healthy people. But the
healthier you are, usually the lower the risks.
There is always a chance of dying from surgery,
that's why people are scared, but the odds of
anything bad happening are pretty low (don't ask me
the odds).
When is the last time you ever heard about anyone
dying from a tummy tuck? It would make national
headline news as soon as it happened as the media
eats that stuff up and in the US over 100,000 tummy
tucks are performed each year.
Don't dwell on the stuff that could go wrong, just
follow the doctors orders and think about what it's
going to be like after the surgery. Pass the
remaining time by preparing for your recovery and
shopping for new clothes.
Good luck on your surgery.
That's a nice Christmas present to give yourself.
Tanner
